Training to be a Certified Heritage Guide prepares candidates to offer excursions for tourists visiting Washington, DC. Certified Heritage Guides learn the basic theory which is the foundation for communicating history, art, architecture, and cultural life in DC, as well as a number of countries in the world. The fee for training includes a one year membership with the National Association for Interpretation for one year. In addition, Certified Heritage Guides remain members for subsequent years by paying the annual membership. This membership gives CHGs access to a wealth of information in guiding and interpretation such as webinars and conferences as well as opportunities for employment.
